Formerly head chef at Shogun, Takashi Gibo, has taken both his sushi dishes and bevy of loyal customers to a house of his own. On its ever-rotating chalkboard selection, Takashi offers the freshest picks of the day, including Thai mackerel and fatty tuna. The thinly sliced skirt steak atop tempura-fried portobello mushrooms is a standout appetizer. Sushi undeniably is the specialty of the house, but the grilled halibut and salmon are not to be missed.

Stunning atmosphere, decent sushi, excellent drink list! The service was world class and I felt like the atmosphere was worth the steep pricing.

Make reservations or get there early or late...."rush hour" is a LONG wait. They have some interesting rolls - such as one with Strawberries that is very good as is the summit roll. I eat out about 6x a week and about 2x/week for sushi - I would say Takashi is top 3 places in SLC area. No happy hour or discounts - but really that is about the only downside to this place. The atmosphere is great - especially on warm evenings when they open the shutters and you almost feel like you are setting outside. TWO THINGS they could do to improve this place - have a larger area so wait is not as long and NEED TO OPEN ON SUNDAYS!!!!!! Service is consistently pretty good - when they are busy...well it lacks a little but that is to be expected. Parking can be a bit tough with current construction but it's worth a block walk to eat the food here.
Pros: interesting rolls
Cons: LONG wait from 6-8pm CLOSED SUNDAYS!!!!!
