- If you're a flatlander, don't come here for the weekend. The altitude will suck every ounce of fun out of you...You need an extended stay, with the first few days including doing nothing, or you will hate this place.

vail is a snakey, spread out resort jamed between mountain and freeway. It suffers in my opinion from being just too close to Denver. Too crowded and too spread out- that might seem contradictory unless you've been there more...
